If you have ever bought or used a hotel door lock in your hotel, you will know there is a device called hotel lock handset.
Different hotel locks have different name for it. such as PDA, Portable LCD Handset, Wireless Portable Programmer.
Why need a hotel lock handset?
To understand why need it, firstly you should know how the hotel locks are manufacturered.
All hotel locks are the same, when they are in factory manufactured.There is no Room number saved in. The same chip, same shell, same lever handle.
Because mass production requires manufacturing the same thing, only in this way can costs be reduced.
However, the floors of each hotel’s rooms are different. So the locks need do a setup or called initialize, to let it match the real different hotels conditions.
When the lock do setup, it can fit different hotels. For example every hotel’s room numbers are not exactly same.
A common method is to use several cards to have the setting information read into the door lock.(Magnetic stripe card hotel lock requires insert the magstrip card to programming）
So, in the using card method, you need to program multiple cards, and each door lock needs to read 3 to 4 cards.
If you have 100 rooms in your hotel, you need program200-400 cards, depends on different hotel locks needs cards.
This is absolutely a huge workload.
Although you only need to do it once, who wouldn’t be happy if it could be a little more convenient than this?
